1. A Levite musician among those who helped to bring the ark to Jerusalem, in the time of King David and played in the procession (v. 20).

2. The son of Adaiah. One of the military officers who assisted Jehoiada the priest in the rebellion against Queen Athaliah.

3. An officer, who helped assemble the military lists of the army of King Uzziah.

4. "The son of the king", first to be mentioned in a list of officials who were killed by Zichri, an Ephraimite hero, in the time of King Ahaz. He may have been the son of Ahaz.

5. The governor of Jerusalem in the time of Josiah; he was sent, along with other officials, to cleanse the Temple.

6. The father of the false prophet Zedekiah.

7. A priest, son of Shallum. Keeper of the doors of the Temple, and father of Zephaniah, priest in the time of Jeremiah.

8-11. The name of four persons, sons of the families of Jeshua, Harim, Pashhur and Pahath-Moab, who married alien women in the time of Ezra and were forced to repudiate them.

12. The father of Azariah who took part in rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem in the time of Nehemiah.

13. One of the people who stood on the right side of Ezra when he read from the Book of the Law.

14. A Levite who helped the people understand the meaning of the Book of the Law, when Ezra read from it before the public.

15. One of the heads of the families who signed the covenant in the time of Nehemiah.

16. The son of Baruch, a Judahite, who settled in Jerusalem in the time of Nehemiah. In I Chronicles 9:5 his name is recorded as Asaiah.

17. Ancestor of Sallu the son of Meshullam, a Benjamite, who settled in Jerusalem in the time of Nehemiah.

18-19. Two of the priests who took part in the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem in the time of Nehemiah.

The name appears on several Hebrew seals and seal-impressions.
