Mabinay is a 1st class municipality in the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 74,187 people.

Mabinay os situated practically in the central part of Negros Island abutting the western side of the provential boundary. The municipality of ayungon bound it in the north, the City of Bais in the south, the municipalities of Bindoy and Manjuyod and the portion of Bais in the east, and the province of negros occidental in the west. It is about 87 kilometers northwest of the provintial capital. - Dumaguete City and can be reach from the City via the circuitous but well-paved national road that cuts across the middle of the province from Bais City to Negros Occidental.

In the Heart of Negros Island lies Mabinay, second largest town in the Province of Negros Oriental. Its strategic location between two major cities makes it ideal as a thoroughtfare for travelers.

Mabinay ranks one of the World's Top Twenty Islands for foreigners to live on, according to Islands Magazine.

Admission is free in the critically acclaimed Mabinay Spring. It is about a 3 - to 5-minute tricycle, jeepney or a bus ride from the town proper.

Education

The Mabinay National High School (formerly Mabinay Municipal High School) is a high standard accredited institution according to the Philippine Department of Education.

Mabinay Science High School is a Secondary Public Science High School system that is a DepEd-recognized institution.

The Santo Niño High School is a private Catholic institution located at Barangay Lumbangan.

Cane Town Colleges of the Philippines is a TESDA accredited institution which provides short courses through a certification programs for students who wants to earn a degree in 6 months.It is located in Mabinay.

Negros Oriental State University Mabinay Campus (NORSU-M) is sown and nurtured by the spirit of Mabinay-Bayanihan. The plurality of its stakeholders in providing higher education for the “poor but deserving” students is an actualization of liberal education. Through this state university, NORSUnian learning is an investment. NORSU-M is a legacy of collaboration and dedication of citizens for the noble mandate of education in the zenith of this southern clime.

June 16, 1997,INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY.” (SB Resolution No. 94, s., 1997) The Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 94 provided for the legal foundation of Mabinay Institute of Technology (MIT). In Mabinay-Bayanihan, the 13 gentlemen initiated the spirit of collaboration for the province-wide concern. MIT is a complete technical college operated with the approval of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports.

June 25, 2004,The R.A. 9299 of the Philippine bicameral Congress has grown Mabinay Institute of Technology (MIT) into Negros Oriental State University Mabinay Campus (NORSU-M). Mabinay-Bayanihan has become a culture of collaboration of every Mabinayanon. The tri-functions of NORSU-M are for excellence and service to all stakeholders in this apex of the Negrense Island.

Recreation and Outdoor

Mabinay is known for its caves. The Odloman Cave is one of the largest cave in the Philippines with 8,870 meters long and Cayaso Cave, the ninth longest cave in the country measuring 2,222 meters long.

Aside from the caves, Mabinay is also blessed with rivers and natural springs. One of its known natural spring is located at the heart of the municipality, the Mabinay spring. A perfect plays for family outing, swimming, kayaking,etc. Not only for recreation it also serves as the main water resource of the main town.

Health Services

Mabinay itself has a small government-run hospital. Mabinay Medicare Community Hospital provides both in emergency outpatients services and inpatient services. It is located directly behind the Municipal Hall. Mabinay Health Center, one of three Mabinay health centers.

Transportations

Motorcycles or "habal-habal", tricycles, jeepneys, and buses are the major modes of transportation in the municipality.
