Romano's Macaroni Grill is an Italian-style chain of casual dining restaurants with locations throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The first restaurant was founded by Texas restaurateur Philip J. Romano in Leon Springs, Texas, on April 19, 1988. Brinker International bought the franchise rights on November 22, 1989. It is a direct competitor of Olive Garden.

Brinker International announced on August 8, 2007 that it would begin exploring a buyer for the 230 company owned stores. On December 18, 2008, Brinker announced that a majority stake in the chain was sold to a unit of Golden Gate Capital, making it the first of Brinker's core brands to be sold. Brinker will seemingly sell other cornerstones as well. [1]. Since 2004 it has cast off the Rockfish Seafood Grill, Corner Bakery Cafe and Big Bowl Asian Kitchen brands.

Products

Romano's Macaroni Grill offers recipes inspired by the cooking style of the Italian Mediterranean, featuring high-quality ingredients like imported artisan pastas, extra virgin olive oil, vine-ripened tomatoes, select seafood, colorful vegetables and fresh Italian herbs. Every meal starts with freshly baked peasant bread and can include items like fresh Antipasti, handcrafted pastas, Italian Classics and Mediterranean Grill entrees. The most popular item is Create Your Own Handcrafted Pasta in which guests select their own ingredients for the chefs to prepare. They offer their house wine served on the honor system, in which guests tell their servers how many glasses they've had. The company offers catering services at some locations.
