Macintosh models

Following is a brief summary of the current models in Apple's Mac family, all of which use Intel CPU chips. For a list of some of the earliest Macs by model number, see Macintosh models - early.

MAC DESKTOPS (Mac Pro - iMac - Mac mini)

The "Mac Pro" is a tower-based, high-performance workstation with four or eight cores (see Mac Pro).

The "iMac" is the most popular consumer model. Everything is built into its flat screen (see iMac).

The "Mac mini" is the smallest and least expensive. It hardly takes up any space on the desk (see Mac mini).

MAC LAPTOPS (MacBook - MacBook Pro - MacBook Air)

The "MacBook Pro" models are the largest and most powerful Mac laptops, while the "MacBooks" are smaller and slightly lighter. The "MacBook Air" is the lightest and thinnest (see MacBook).

MAC SERVERS (Xserve)
