Plot

Some 30 years after the wars between the humans and Zentradi that took place during the original series Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Earth's government is testing the possible successors to the Valkyrie transforming space fighters. Two pilots, Isamu Alva Dyson and Guld Goa Bowman, are chosen to pilot the YF-19 and the YF-21 in order to decide which one will be the Earth's new main line of defense, but these two hot-shots are so competitive that they put the entire project at risk. In addition, an old friend to both men, Myung Fan Lone, shows up, fueling the fires of jealousy. Myung also happens to be the agent for the most popular pop star in the galaxy, Sharon Apple (who is actually a hologram), fulfilling the "Macross" franchise tradition of including rock and pop stars as key plot figures.
