→ n. Irish an affectionate form of address.
Origin: from Ir. mo ‘my’ + cuisle ‘pulse’.

Macushla is an Irish song copyrighted circa 1910 with music by Dermot MacMurrough and lyrics by Josephine V. Rowe. The title is a transliteration of the Irish mo chuisle meaning "my pulse" as used in the phrase a chuisle mo chroí (pulse of my heart) meaning "darling" or "sweetheart".[1][2]

It was used in the end credits of the 1996 film Michael Collins.[3]

It is inscribed ("Mo cuishle") on the silks of boxer Maggie Fitzgerald (Hillary Swank) in the 2004 film Million Dollar Baby, and is chanted by various crowds in the film numerous times.
