Madeline's Rescue is a book by Ludwig Bemelmans, the second in the Madeline series. Released by Viking Press, it was the recipient of the Caldecott Medal for illustration in 1954.[1]
Plot
After falling into a river, Madeline gets rescued by a dog (later on named Genevieve). Soon the two become inseparable. Problems arise when the other girls want to spend time with Genevieve and Lord Cucuface shows up and kicks the dog out. Genevieve comes back and has enough puppies for all the girls. Note In the TV series Lord Cucuface comes back and finds Genevieve and the puppies but adopts one.
