Plot

Madlax brings together skills from some of the most influential names in anime. Directed by Koichi Mashimo of Noir, written by Yosuke Kuroda of S-CRY-Ed, and animated by Bee Train (the animation house responsible for Noir and .hack//SIGN), Madlax focuses on the parallels between two seemingly completely unconnected female leads. Margerette Barton lives as a prisoner in her own lavish house. Having lost her memory 12 years ago in a plane crash, she is cared for by her aristocratic family and knows only the friendship of her maid, Elenor. Madlax, on the other hand, is a top-ranked assassin who is known only by her mysterious code name. In a style that is very similar to Noir, the connection between the two women unfolds over the course of the series, played against the backdrop of war and how it ravages the lives of those involved with it. ~ Cammila Albertson, Rovi
