Biography

Traditional Celtic stylist Maggie Sansone was the daughter of a jazz pianist who each year gave his daughter a new musical instrument at Christmas; a versatile talent who mastered everything from the guitar to piano to bassoon, she found her true calling as an adult, discovering the hammered dulcimer. Upon forming her own label, Maggie's Music, Sansone issued her debut LP Hammered Dulcimer Traditions in 1987; in addition to subsequent recordings including 1990's Mist and Stone, 1994's Dance Upon the Shore and 1998's A Traveler's Dream: Celtic Explorations, she also authored a series of music books for the Mel Bay company. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
