The Maine Senate is the upper house of the Maine Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Maine. The Senate consists of 35 members representing an equal number of districts across the state. Unlike the lower House, the Senate does not set aside nonvoting seats for Native tribes.

The Senate meets at the Maine State House in Augusta.

Leadership

Unlike a fair share of U.S. states, the Senate's leadership does not stem from the Lieutenant Governor, as Maine has constitutionally abolished the office. The leadership instead falls in the hands of the Senate President. The Maine Senate is one of the few bodies of its kind in the United States where all the major chamber positions are held by women.

The Senate President is Betheda Edmonds. The Majority Leader is Democrat Elizabeth H. Mitchell and the Minority Leader is Republican Carol Weston.
