Algerian novelist, poet, and journalist.
A Christian born in Ighil Ali, Malek Ouary was educated in his village and became a radio journalist in Algeria. He then worked at the Office de la Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (ORTF) in Paris. A francophone writer, his works include Par les chemins d'emigration (investigative report); Cahier d'epreuves (1955); Poèmes et chants de Kabyle (1972); and also the novels Le grain dans la meule (1956), La montagne aux chacals (1981), and La robe kabyle de Baya (2000).
