Malibu Beach Volleyball is 2-on-2 beach volleyball. Choose to play as one of four countries, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. You can also select to play in a men's or women's league. In order to win the title you must defeat the other three teams. Point totals will depend on the number of matches you are playing. You have a choice between three-game and one-game matches. During three-game matches you play for 12 points and in one-game matches you play to 15 points. With a link cable two players can oppose each other or play on the same team.

Review: Overall
Malibu Beach Volleyball makes good use of the link cable by allowing cooperative play rather than just competition. Enough options are included to add some replay value to the game as well. First you have to select to play in the men's or women's league. The women's league games move at a slower pace than the men's league. You then have to choose your team from a list of four: USA, Brazil, Japan, and Italy. Each have ratings in two categories, spiking strength and running speed. Defeating the three teams you don't select is how you win the game.
Controls make all plays simple to execute. Serving can be done in two ways. Using the 'A' button will deleiver a regular serve while the 'B' button performs a power serve. After serving the buttons are used for hitting and jumping.
Gameplay is smooth and easy to follow. Graphics comprise of the four players, net, and outline of the court. When the ball is hit toward the back of the court the ocean is viewable to show you that you are on the beach. Nothing is too detailed but everything looks okay. Sounds are average. Basically a noise is made everytime the ball is hit.
Malibu Beach Volleyball provides you with a simple game of volleyball. It is a good game but it is not overly exciting. Hitting the ball back and forth on a small, non-color screen can become a bit repetitive.
