After finding that her husband has been cheating on her, Reba Gallager and her family move from Nashville, Tennessee to Malibu, California, in an attempt to jump-start her music career and start a new chapter in their lives.
Malibu Country, created by Kevin Abbott[2] and starring and produced by Reba McEntire was a series in development for ABC.[3][4] The pilot episode is scheduled to shoot on April 17, 2012, at ABC Studios. [1] McEntire will play Reba Gallager, a divorced mother of three who moves to Malibu, California, to restart her music career.[5][6]
It was announced on February 23, 2012, that Emmy Award winner Lily Tomlin would join the series, playing the role of McEntire's character's mother, Shirley.[7] On March 1, 2012, Sara Rue was added to the cast. She will portray Kim, a very upbeat share-too-much, hug-too-freely trophy wife and neighbor with a gay teenage son, to Reba and Shirley.[8] On March 8, 2012, Justin Prentice and Juliette Angelo were cast as Reba's teenage twins, Cash and June.[9] On March 28, 2012, Jai Rodriguez was cast as Geoffrey, the record label executive Reba turns to to begin her music career.[10]
On May 11, 2012, ABC placed a series order for the comedy.[11]
