Most cases of bone marrow cancer are a result of cancer cells entering the bone marrow from other cancers in the body, such as Breast cancer, prostate cancer, or lung cancer.

The primary bone cancers are called osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, and malignant fibrous histiocytoma.

Then there are other kinds of bone marrow cancers that are associated with a dysfunction in the development of blood cells that start out as pluripotent stem cells. These cncers include leukemia and lymphomas.

A type of bone cancer that ocurrs in the red bone marrow is called multiple MYELOMA.
