Malt Beer is a beverage made from malted barley, syrup water and sugar. It is very popular in Israel where it is called "black beer".
Brands for sale in Israel include Nesher and Goldstar.
The German version is called Malzbier.
Variations are also popular in Latin and Caribbean countries.
In West Africa you will find a variety of these beverages; Guiness Malt, Amstel Malt, Maltex etc. They are considered to give you energy (likely as a result of the massive amount of sugar).
