breast reduction

A complicated, major operation which may remove 1.3-1.5 kg (2-3 lb) of tissue from each breast. It is usually performed for health rather than cosmetic reasons because oversized breasts can cause severe, chronic backache and other disorders. The operation sometimes leaves surface scarring, but most patients are more concerned with the alleviation of discomfort than minor effects on physical appearance.

Mammoplasty can refer to the surgical procedure to insert cheek implants or augmentation mammoplasty, an enlarging of the breasts via implants. It most often refers to the latter.

Cheek implants used for this procedure are usually made of solid silicone which is inserted generally through the mouth and secured above the cheekbones to give more facial definition and improve the face.
