Plot

This program focuses on the works of Arcangelo Corelli, whose works were to influence many other composers, including Handel. His patrons included Queen Christina of Sweden, Cardinal Pamphili, and Cardinal Ottoboni. The support of religious leaders and royalty allowed composers freedom of creativity during the 17th and 18th centuries. Man and Music: The Golden Age looks at Corelli's output, which included concerto grossi and trio sonatas. Selections from Handel, Corelli, Scarlatti, and Battista are performed. ~ Alice Day, Rovi
