Review
A marvellous, uplifting concert of twisted tunes and new uses for the "free bass accordion" containing Mary Ellen Childs' charming Pygmymusic-like "Oa Poa Polka", Anthony Coleman's plaintive "Below 14th Street, Above 125th Street", Rolf Groesbeck's tone cluster and conjuring "Polka 1", Aaron Kernis's cinematic joke "Phantom Polka" (Kernis is also a composer of some brilliant orchestral music, watch for future recordings), John King's hymn-based "All Together Now", Guy Klucevsek's "Samba D Hiccup" and the lovely "An Air of Gathering Pipers", Christian Marclay's "Ping Pong Polka" with wildly modulated record collage, Lois Vierk's "Manhattan Cascade" (see review under composers), and John Zorn's humorous "Road Runner". ~ "Blue" Gene Tyranny, All Music GuideTracks
