Born in Cuba in 1922, from Catalan origin, she was one of the most notorious rumba dancers of her times. Emigrated to Mexico City, she became a most popular movie actress during the golden age of Mexican Film. She died at age 82 at a private hospital in that capital. From 1979 she had been retired from the artistic activity. Her impressive physique as well as her extraorinbary faculties as a rumba dancer will not be forgotten. Her sensuous dancing can still be seen in movies such as María Cristina and Siboney, directed by her husband Juan Oriol. Among other films by her we have to mention: Una estrella y dos estrellados (1959), Las mil y una noches (1957), Teatro del crimen (1956), La mujer del puerto (1949), Konga roja (1943, Noche de ronda (1942) y Maria Cristina (1950) among many others, including some in the "ranchero" gender. Some of her partners were Pedro Armendáriz, Germán Valdés (Tin Tan), Enrique Rambal, Manuel Dondé y Luis Aguilar.
