Technology

In October 2011, Mypapelpicado.com incorporated "Quick Response codes" (QR codes) for all papel picado artwork. Members of the organization implemented the codes with their papel picado artwork creating a unique blend of modern technology and art. A fan or guest will be able to scan the unique QR code with their smart phone, which will then allow the user to have the option to "like" their fan page, share it, or obtain more information about the artist and or piece.

Mypapelpicado.com, which is still in its infancy set a milestone in October 2011. Through the use of social media to help promote the preservation of the dying art of papel picado, the family organization now spans several countries which share his craft. Such countries include; England, Australia, Canada, Mexico, United States of America to name a few.[3]

Marcelino has shared the tradition of Mexican paper cutting (papel picado) with friends, family and surrounding communities in Southern California.[2] In recent years, the next generations (Kris Sifuentes, Colleen A. Sifuentes-Gonzalez & Abigail L. Sifuentes) of papel picado artists have followed "El Maestro" in preserving the dying art form.[1]
