Marcianopolis

An ancient city where the Goths revolted against the Roman empire. Marcianopolis was a titular see located in lower Moesia on the bank of the Danube river. Previously known as Parthenopolis, it was named Marcianopolis by the emperor Trajan in honor of his sister Marciana.
