The Marcy Houses are a public housing project at the crossroads of the Bedford-Stuyvesant, Fort Greene, Williamsburg, and the Clinton Hill sections of Brooklyn in New York City. The project consists of 27 six-story buildings on 28.49-acres with 1,705 apartments housing some 4,286 residents. Completed on January 19, 1949, it is bordered by Flushing, Marcy, Nostrand and Myrtle Avenues. The area is considered one of the rougher parts of New York City along with Borinquen Plaza Houses, but is now considered by many to be an "up and coming" neighborhood.[citation needed]
Music artists to come out of Marcy include Jay-Z, Memphis Bleek and Sauce Money.
The Marcy Projects are the location for the Chappelle Show episode of the "World Series of Dice."
