Margarita Zavala de Calderón (born Margarita Esther Zavala Gómez del Campo, July 25, 1967) is the wife of Mexican President Felipe Calderón and therefore the First Lady of Mexico. She was a PAN deputy in 2006 in the LIX Legislature of the Mexican Congress.
Early life and personal life
In her earlier life, she was the fifth of seven siblings: Diego, Mercedes, Pablo, Juan Ignacio, Rafael and Mónica. Her parents were lawyers. Margarita Zavala attended the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City.
She married Felipe Calderón on January 1993. They have three children: María (b. 1997), Luis Felipe (b. 2000), and Juan Pablo (b. 2003). She is also a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. http://steelers.com/article/111284/
First Lady of Mexico
As the wife of Mexican President Felipe Calderón, Margarita Zavala de Calderon will serve as First Lady of Mexico from 2006-2012. She's the only first lady of Mexico to have served in Congress, and is very involved in her husband's presidency. She currently serves as president of an advisory board for DIF, a government agency that helps to develop and strengthen families in Mexico.
