Following on the heels of colleagues Sally Rand and Ann Corio, burlesque dancer Margie Hart turned her notoriety into a (mercifully brief) film career with Lure of the Islands (1942), a howler from low-budget Monogram Pictures. Looking fetching in her sarong (which, despite her previous metier, she never removed), Hart played a native girl battling Nazi spies on a tropical isle. Unfortunately, Hart's Missouri twang and unfamiliarity with the rudiments of screen acting betrayed her and she quickly returned to the stage. Long retired from performing, Margie Hart became the wife of former football hero and Los Angeles City Councilman John Ferraro. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
