Review

As the title suggests, Placido Domingo's 1999 album, Mariachi, was recorded with a mariachi band accompanying him on songs like "Paloma Querida," "Malaguena," "Como Olvidar," "La Rondalla," and "La Feria de las Flores." Many of the works on Mariachi were popularized by Lola Beltran, Jose Alfredo Jimenez Sandoval, and other singers who Domingo listened to during his boyhood in Mexico, and he interprets these songs with affection. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
