Marie Sophie Schmidt

Schmidt, Marie Sophie (Langensalza, 1731-99, Eisenach), a cousin of the poet F. G. Klopstock, who fell in love with her in 1748, when he was a private tutor in Langensalza. She is the ‘Fanny’ of his odes. His love was not returned, and she married in 1754 a wealthy businessman, Johann Justinus Streiber of Eisenach.
