One of the largest formal schools in the Marine Corps for training Marines to use advanced communications and electronics systems. Training can include operating and repairing communications equipment and operating equipment for anti-air warfare. The program started in 1932 as the Pigeon and Flag Handler Platoon. In 1942 the school was established in Quantico, Virginia, as a signal school, and in 1943 it moved to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. During World War II it began offering communications courses. After several more moves and name changes, the school moved again to its present location of Twentynine Palms, California, in 1967, and in 1971 took its current name.
