Biography

Producer and studio executive Mark Rosenberg was behind a number of big-budget Hollywood features of the '80s and early '90s. Born in Passaic, NJ, Rosenberg was at one time a prominent literary agent who represented writers and directors such as John Badham and David Seltzer. In 1978, Rosenberg became the vice president of Warner Bros.' worldwide studio production division where he was involved with such films as The World According to Garp (1983) and The Killing Fields (1984). In 1985, Rosenberg left the studio to form Mirage Enterprises with filmmaker/producer Sydney Pollack. The partnership lasted until the early '90s and produced such films as Out of Africa (1985) and The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989). Following the split, Rosenberg and his wife, Paula Weinstein, also a producer, formed Spring Creek Productions. Working closely with Warner Bros., Rosenberg and Weinstein directed the acclaimed Citizen Cohn (1992) for the HBO cable network. A year later, the two were busy producing Flesh and Bone and Fearless when the 44-year-old Rosenberg suffered a fatal heart attack. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
