Markby is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north-east from Alford.
The church of St Peter's is the only remaining thatched church in Lincolnshire. It is surrounded by the remains of a moat, part of Markby Priory of St Peter (dissolved in 1536) founded by Ralf FitzGilbert during the reign of Henry II.[1] The church is believed to have been built of stone from the old priory, and the bell to be the priory's refectory bell.[2][3]
