A town of southern Ontario, Canada, north-northeast of Toronto. It is a processing center. Population: 262,000.


City (pop., 2006: 261,573), southeastern Ontario, Canada. It is situated on the Rouge River, northeast of Toronto. Settled in 1794, the town was named for William Markham, archbishop of York. It annexed the nearby township of Markham in 1971.
