"Maroon & Gold" is the official fight song of Arizona State University. It was composed by former Director of Sun Devil Marching Band, Felix E. McKernan in 1948. [1]
Current Version
- Fight, Devils down the field
- Fight with your might and don't ever yield
- Long may our colors outshine all others
- Echo from the buttes,
- Give 'em hell Devils!
- Cheer, cheer for ASU
- Fight for the Old Maroon (and Gold)
- For it's hail, hail, the gang's all here
- And it's onward to victory!
Original McKernan Version
- Fight, team on down the field.
- Fight with your might till victory is ours.
- Long may our colors wave o'er all others,
- Sing it to the tune of hoo-rah Maroon and Gold
- So cheer, cheer for A-S-U.
- Cheer for the varsity.
- For it's Hail! Hail! The gang's all here
- As we march on to victory!
[2]
Alma Mater
"Alma Mater" was composed by former Music Professor and Director of Bulldog Marching Band, Miles A. Dresskell, in 1937. Current version of the Alma Mater was composed by Hazel Quaid, Dixie Gammage, and Ernest Jerome Hopkins.[3]
- Where the bold saguaros
- Raise their arms on high.
- Praying strength for brave tomorrows
- From the western sky.
- Where eternal mountains
- Kneel at sunset's gate.
- Here we hail thee, Alma Mater
- Arizona State.
