Marsannay AC

[mahr-sah-NAY] In 1987, this became the first new village appellation to be established in the côte d'or area since the 1930s. The village of Marsannay, also called Marsannay-la-Côte, is located at the northern end of the côte de nuits (the northern portion of the Côte d'Or) in France's burgundy region. The Marsannay AC covers all three categories of wine (red, white, and rosé), which is unique for this area. Prior to receiving their own AC status, red wines from this area were sold as Bourgogne Marsannay-la-Côte AC, and rosé wines, as Bourgogne Marsannay-la-Côte Rosé AC. Marsanny AC wines are generally considered comparable to those from the côte de nuits-villages.
