Biography

Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Martin's Folly is a roots rock band whose approach embraces the influences of straight-ahead rock & roll, country-rock, and folk-rock, resulting in a mixture that's smart and emotionally powerful without being pretentious or fussy. Martin's Folly was formed by Chris Gray (guitar and vocals), Jim Duffy (keyboards), Paul Page (bass), and Pat Fitzgerald (drums) in 1995, releasing its first album (on the band's own Johnson's Wax label) a year later. They signed with the twang-friendly independent label Tar Hut for their second album, 1999's Man, It's Cold, and returned to self-distribution with 2003's From Hope, which featured a cameo appearance from legendary Mott the Hoople frontman Ian Hunter. ~ Mark Deming, All Music Guide
