Mary Augusta Kennedy (December 6, 1857 – May 20, 1923) was the wife of Patrick J. Kennedy, mother of Joseph P. Kennedy, and paternal grandmother of assassinated US president John F. Kennedy and his brothers Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. She was born Mary Augusta Hickey in Winthrop, Massachusetts , and was the daughter of James Hickey(1836-1900), a prominent saloon keeper, and Margaret Field Hickey(1835-1911), both of whom had emigrated from County Cork, then-Britain.
