Marzelline (Beethoven: Fidelio). Soprano. Daughter of the gaoler Rocco. She is loved by Jaquino, but becomes attracted by the ‘young man’ Fidelio (Leonore in disguise), her father's assistant. Aria: O wär ich schon mit dir vereint (‘Oh, if only I were already joined to you’). Created (1805) by Louise Müller.
