Masato Seto

 

Seto, Masato (b. 1953), Japanese photographer of mixed Japanese and Thai-Vietnamese parentage, born in Thailand and resident in Japan since 1961. In 1987, after working as Masahisa Fukase's assistant, he founded the ‘PLACE M’ photo gallery in Tokyo. He visited his birthplace for Bangkok, Hanoi 1982-1987, published in 1990. In 1994 he began Silent Mode, a series on women in the street. He is best known for his photographs of foreign residents at home in Tokyo: Living Room, Tokyo, exhibited in 1995 as printed, on a single roll of Photo paper, and published in 1996.
