The second release by Skam/Musik Aus Strom offshoot label Mask doubled the numbers of its predecessor, but still only managed a print run of 200 copies. This time featuring Funkstorung, Bola, Jega, Hell Interface, and Intron, the EP's five tracks run the gamut from dark, austere downtempo electro to manic machine-born drum'n'bass, the silver thread being an elemental minimalism and warm, analog-y production. Although somehow none of the tracks quite manages the right length (two are overly long and three are mere vignettes that would probably have made more interesting extended tracks), the material is solid enough, although perhaps not ultimately worth what the market will undoubtedly come to demand for them. ~ Sean Cooper, Rovi
