( b Paris, 6 Feb 1923). French composer. He studied with Messiaen at the Paris Conservatoire (1946-52) and followed Boulez in his works. Subsequently he made a reputation as a cinema composer and conductor, of the Orchestre National de l′ORTF (1960-68) and at the Opéra.
