Maurice Stephenson Bartlett

(1910–2002; b. London, England; d. Exmouth, England) English statistician. Bartlett graduated from Cambridge U in 1932. After a year at UCL, he worked for ICI before joining the faculty at Cambridge U. During the Second World War he was seconded to the Ministry of Supply where he worked alongside Anscombe, David Kendall, and Moran. He was appointed Professor of Mathematical Statistics at Manchester U in 1947. In 1960 he moved to UCL and in 1967 to Oxford U, where he was Professor of Biomathematics. He was elected FRS in 1961 and was President of the RSS in 1966. He was the COPSS Fisher Lecturer in 1964. He was awarded the Guy Medal in Silver of the RSS in 1952 and the Guy Medal in Gold in 1969.
