Mauricio Rosencof (born June 30, 1933) is a well-known Uruguayan playwright, poet and journalist from Florida, Uruguay. Since 2005 he has been Director of Culture of the Municipality of Montevideo.
He was a founder of the Communist Youth Union and leader of the National Liberation (Tupamaros) (MLN-T) and in 1972 was arrested and tortured. After the coup of 1973 he was held "hostage" with eight more prisoners.[1] After twelve years in prison and horror, he was released in 1985.[1]
He lives in Montevideo.
