Game Character:

Maximus

Character Bio

Maximus was once a poor child when his family was forced into slavery by his master. Realizing his physical potential, he was ripped from his mother's side and practically thrown into the arena where he would learn to fend off many animal attacks -- or die trying. His wit and dexterity were enhanced by many years of physical training that soon led to his becoming the greatest warrior in all of Greece.

Observed every 30 years, the celebration of the ore was well underway. To determine the new owner of the ore, Maximus was to battle a worthy opponent. After a long struggle, he bested his rival but killed both masters in a brutal mistake. With thousands of witnesses to his crime, Maximus grabbed the ore -- already feeling its power grow within him -- and fled the coliseum. Many guards stood in his way, but he cut them down with tremendous ease.

Running down the streets of Greece, Maximus realized just how easy it was to wield a sword even after his exhausting battle. He finally eluded his pursuers and found a place to hide on the outskirts of town.

Now totally consumed by the ore's power, he fights to free the enslaved. During his journeys, however, he has encountered the War Gods tournament, where he now dreams of becoming the champion.

FATALITY:

To finish off his opponents, Maximus summons two stone pillars, magically chaining his rival to them and then cutting him in half with a knife. As the opponent's legs fall to the ground, his upper body hangs from the chains, bleeding and dripping muscles and bones.

THE STORY:

Even as our own solar system was being brutally beaten into shape at the hands of the big bang, there were already many other advanced civilizations embarking upon conquests across the stars. Of course, not every one of these civilizations could peer through the cloud of intergalactic haze that covered our Milky Way galaxy, hiding the treacherous environs inside. Fortunately, only one craft ever ventured inside (though a million deaths within the galaxy would have been preferable when compared to what would soon happen).

As the ship entered our galaxy it was thrust into a huge asteroid field, fusing and melding the rock and plasma in the vacuum of space. The ship was almost immediately struck, sent careening toward the fiery sun. Spinning and rolling, the ship finally pulverized itself into the molten Earth -- but not before its cargo bay was ripped open. As a result, a dozen shards of green ore were sent out across the cooling planet.

Holding great medicinal powers for the alien race, the ore seemed to affect humans in an entirely different way, contorting their minds and bestowing them with great powers. Throughout the history of Earth, ten humans managed to find shards of the ore. Brought together in one giant end-all contest, only one will survive as the most powerful being alive. There will be only one true War God. ~ Shawn Sackenheim, All Game Guide
