Mahar (Urdu: مھر) is a Sindhi and Punjabi tribe of Araeen or Arain origin, Pakistan.
Mahar is a family in the upper region of plain lands of Sindh province of Pakistan and throughout. Its members have been political leaders, businessmen, landownners, and different walks of life. They also write Choudhary, Mian etc with their names. but are unrelated to Choudhary Jutts or Choudhary Gujjars and silmilarly Mian Araeens are unrelated to Mian Kashmiris.
They usually grow and sell vegetables and are most Mehars are descendants of vegetable vendors of Pre-Partition Eastern Punjab. The government alloted them huge lands in Sindh to overcome vegetable deficiency and even today vegetable markets throughout Punjab and Sinhd are controlled By Araeens of Mehar and Choudhary clans.
