Mehmaan Khana, (Urdu: مہمان خانہ, from Persian guest house) was a typical feature of many Mughal era havelis palaces and mansions. It was the area where guests were entertained.
Many houses in the rural areas of Pakistan still have a Mehmaan Khana for guests, which are often referred to as Hujra as well.
The term (also spelled memonkhona in Latin script) is also used to describe a guest room in other parts of Central Asia.
