Melittis melissophyllum (Bastard Balm; syn. Melittis sylvestris, Melittis grandiflora Sm., Rehmannia chinensis Libosch. ex Fish. & Mey.) is a perennial plant in the Lamiaceae family. It is found in Europe from southern England as far east as Turkey.[1] The blossoms of the wild variey are white with a pink blotch. There is, however, a deep red garden cultivar called "Royal Velvet Distinction."[2][3]
