It might be preposterous to assume any kind of thought or concern went into the production of this, a budget-line Hank Snow emission -- one hesitates to glorify it with the word "release" -- that is typical in its brevity but unusual in the collective implication of the songs chosen. Snow's own originals, sometimes good and sometimes just sentimental, are completely avoided in favor of a measly nine tracks smeared with loneliness, gambling, prisons, and memories of the past. The overall advice to read in these Snow flakes seems to be to "Just Keep A-Movin'," but what other advice can one expect from a songwriter whose surname is Walker? Albums with sides that are only about 11 minutes long have been known to inspire axe murders, so one might be cautious about introducing this particular release into one's home. Still, it is a little shot of straightahead country music, including a nifty Ernest Tubb cover. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
