A synthetic form of vitamin K that is given to correct vitamin K deficiency and to reverse the effects of warfarin sodium if too large a dose has been used. It is available as tablets that can be obtained without a prescription, but only from pharmacies.

Precautions:
menadiol should not be taken by newborn babies and infants or by women in the late stages of pregnancy. This vitamin should be used with caution by people with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency and vitamin E deficiency.

Interactions with other drugs:

Oral anticoagulants: their effects may be reduced by menadiol sodium phosphate.
