[meh-neh-TOO sah-LOHN] appellation located near the more famous sancerre ac in western France's upper loire Valley. There are ten small villages whose wines are covered by this appellation. Although the white wines, which are made from sauvignon blanc, are compared to those of Sancerre, they're not equal to Sancerre's best. On the other hand, the red and rosé wines, made from pinot noir, are as good or better than Sancerre's.
