Biography

Having emerged in the New York hardcore scene amongst the swarm metal crossover bands that swarmed the East Coast during the late '80s and early '90s (i.e. Sick of it All, Cro-Mags, etc.), Merauder soon became apart of this scene upon their formation in 1990. With five years of giggling, a couple of demos and the recruitment of vocalist Jorge -- formerly of Full Contact -- 1995 marked the year that Merauder finally earned some recognition thanks in part to a split EP with Stigmata, a tour with Biohazard and deal with Century Media Records. Even before the release of their first album "Master Killer" surfaced later on that year, a United States tour with Fear Factory came about and even some European dates with Germany's Bohse Onkelz. With their line in full tact in 1998, the rest of Merauder -- Sob (guitar), Anthony (guitar), Mike (bass) Pokey (drums) -- got together to record their second album Five Deadly Venoms, which was released the following year. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide

History

The group formed in 1990, establishing itself on the eastern US hardcore/metal scene through frequent touring and a few demo releases. In 1995, the band released an EP after vocalist Jorge joined, and toured with Biohazard.[1] Upon the release of their 1996 debut, the band scored a slot opening for Fear Factory and toured Europe in 1995 with Böhse Onkelz. Merauder is also a one of the key bands from the NYHC scene.[1]

In 2008 the band announced completion of a new studio album recorded at Big Blue Meenie studios in Jersey City, NJ and embarked on headline tours through Europe, Japan, and the US. The band also finished touring with The Haunted and The Agonist.
New record titled "God Is I" has been released 19th June in Europe and 11th August 2009 through Regain Records. Although there were many difficulties with the European release , Regain Records has sent the copies only to Germany, Switzerland , Austria and Holland.
In December Merauder will be back in Europe on tour with Entombed and Devious.
