Meta is a department of Colombia. It is close to the geographic center of the country, at the East of the Andes mountains, in the plain called the Llanos. Its capital is Villavicencio.
The name belongs also to a river that crosses this department.
The department has a monument placed in the very geographic centre of Colombia.
