Metalotolerants are extremophiles that are able to survive in environments with a high concentration of dissolved heavy metals in solution. Metalotolerants may be found in environments containing arsenic, cadmium, copper, and zinc. Known metalotolerants include Ferroplasma sp. and Cupriavidus metallidurans.
